On eBay: Cash is not King
eBay has officially outlawed cash payments among its 100 million members, both buyers and sellers. The auction site has begun deleting listings from sellers who offer to accept cash. Many sellers that accept cash may be involved with scams, and there is no recourse if you send cash in the mail."The U.S. Postal Service tells us it's unsafe, and now eBay is telling everyone that it is unsafe," said Matt Halprin, eBay's global policy VP. "So if a seller solicits or encourages offers to accept cash, [they are] encouraging unsafe payment methods and we do remove that seller's listing."
I have never advertised that I except cash, but a few buyers have sent cash in the mail. Not the best idea but I guess bad feedback may be a deterrent to ship out a product after receiving cash in the mail. FYI, I have never stiffed anyone that sent cash. I guess I am a nice seller.
