Small Business Tax Time 2009

If you are ready to file your taxes and you have a small business make sure you get all the money back from the government that you deserve. Pick up a book at your local bookstore or visit the IRS official website.

Use of Home Deduction
You can deduct the use of your home from your taxes. Make sure it is a dedicated office, not a bedroom. You must conduct business at your residence to take this deduction.

Keep Receipts
Keep every receipt that you associate with your business. You don't want to get audited and not have those receipts. They will charge you interest on all unpaid taxes up to seven years back (ten is special cases).

Show a Profit
You can show a loss with your small business but the government wants to see a profit in your business during the first three years. If you lose money every year for the first three years they will categorize your small business as a hobby (then you are in deep water!).

Keep get records and take deductions that you know are acceptable. You don't want to get caught red handed and owe the government more money than you have in the bank.

More eBay Seller Tips

Garage Sales, Antique Stores, and Salvation Army. You may find something from time to time in these places, at the swap meet, an estate sale. Don't count on it. If you are a serious ebay seller you have to find something to sell that only a few people know about.

If you do go this avenue, early bird gets the worm. Also, antique stores know what they have and how much it is worth. You would be suprised that the Salvation Army and other non-profit sellers also know what they have and how much it costs.

The only treasure chest is your knowledge, the ability to find things that are in demand and that no one really knows about it.

NeuroLife is a 3D world containing a user-trainable Artificially Intelligent agent capable of learning about its environment. Through simulated sensors, and once trained, the agent then uses this information to achieve its goals via a simulated motor system. There are no scripts involved in the process, and all learning involves processing of information entering the sensor network.

Internet Auction Scams | Part 2

The Idle User ScamWatch out for a seller that hasn't sold for 6 months yet is selling a $1,000 item. Phishing gets scammers account information from unexpected people.

Seller, selling another sellers products
Make sure the seller is selling their own products and have them in their position. Many times you will still get the product but it will take much, much longer for the seller of the seller to ship the item.

Bootleg Software
eBay has a tight lid on bootleg software but it still gets through here and there. Make sure you are buying authentic software and movies.

It broke in the mail
If you get something that is broken in the mail make sure you check the picture to make sure you paid for the same product. Some sellers put up a general product and then ship a broken one.

Remember you have 30 days to put in a claim with Paypal but don't expect it to turn out perfectly every time. If you choose to put in a claim, do it before you tell the seller there is a problem. Don't give them time to close out their account and withdrawal all their money.
